IFA president Joe Healy has called for RTÉ to clarify what qualifications “diet expert” Dr Marco Springmann has.
The three-part series What Planet Are You On caused controversy within the farm community when Dr Springmann suggested replacing local Irish cheese in the diet with imported avocados.
Qualifications
The IFA said it could not find any reference to dietary or nutrition qualifications on Dr Springmann’s profile.
“RTÉ should immediately clarify Dr Springmann’s qualifications and make a clear statement that the public should follow the advice given by the Department of Health and qualified nutritionists, not by Dr Springmann,” Healy said.
RTÉ has confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that it has not yet received any complaints regarding the series.
