IFA national livestock chair Angus Woods has welcomed the announcement from the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed of the simplification to some of the requirements for the BDGP. He said the flexibility provided for farmers in relation to the stock bull requirement in the programme is helpful and in line with requests put forward by the IFA.

IFA national farm forestry chair Vincent Nally said that farmers are at breaking point with the delays in getting grants or licences approved. The IFA is hosting an information meeting with the Forest Service at 2pm on Thursday 27 June in the Irish Farm Centre. All farmers with forestry are encouraged to attend.
Deer culling
Over 60 farmers attended an IFA meeting in Partry, Co Mayo, to push for the culling of deer especially females, when the season opens in September. The IFA is seeking a Section 42 pilot area which would allow out-of-season culling of the wild deer population.
