1. Krone Big X 1100

The biggest of all the harvesters available in Ireland at the minute, with its MTU V12 engine producing 1078hp and weighing in at 14.8t.

This lady would test the lugging ability of Rudolf and his comrades. The Big X is capable of picking up a 60ft swath of grass and has no problem doing it at 12mph at this rate it can fill a 16t trailer in a little over a minute.

This will set you back €493,500 plus VAT.

The Krone Big X 1100 is Ireland's most powerful harvester.

2. Claas Jaguar 970

This machine was working in Laois at a recent field day. The MAN diesel engine produces a serious 775hp and this linked to its massive 1,500-litre fuel tank allows it to get through some serious work.

That fuel tank is big enough to heat Santa’s house in the North Pole for the whole winter so he can have the house nice and snug on St Stephens’s day when he returns from his trip. It's a snip at €440,000 (ex-VAT).

The Claas 970 with 12-row Orbis 900 header.

3. Case Quadtrac 540 CVX

This is the most powerful variable-transmission tractor in the world, launched at agrictechnica to the public and to the press in eastern Europe late in the summer.

The tracked monster produces a maxiumum of 614hp and weighs in at up to 29t.

The power comes from a 12.9-litre engine. Plenty of power if Santa needs a pull out of some deep snow. This machine will set you back a mere €420,000 (plus VAT).

The Case Quadtrac 540 CVX is the worlds most powerful variable transmission tractor.

4. Komatsu 911/230 H

At this year’s Ploughing Komatsu introduced this monster timber harvesting machine. It produces 230hp and has the capability of working in the harshest conditions on earth.

The ideal Christmas present for picking up for wood for the fire. It'll set you back €400,000 (plus VAT).

5. Fendt 720 Vario Profi Plus

This Fendt Vario was the centrepiece of a field test that we undertook comparing it with its older relations, a Fendt 924 (the first vario in Ireland) and a Fendt 615.

Producing 208hp, this is a serious pulling machine but the real trick is in the technology. With full auto steer and built-in GPS, I suspect it has similar specification to Santa’s sleigh. If you have €255,000 plus VAT then this could be yours.
