Some 3,958 farmers are still awaiting their advanced Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) monies under the 2018 scheme.

The latest payment update from the Department shows that, to date, 118,301 farmers have been paid a total of €776.44m.

The total number of eligible farmers in the scheme is 122,259.

Balancing payments

Balancing payments under the scheme, which are 30% of the total payment, are to issue at the start of December.

It is also expected that Young Farmer Scheme payments and National Reserve payments will issue in December too.

Payments will continue to issue under the scheme as individual cases are cleared and regular pay runs will be in place over the coming weeks, Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed said when the first tranche of payments began on 16 October.
