Based in Borris, Co Carlow, Keenan will be showcasing a selection of diet feeders from its MechFiber range at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

The smallest machine on display will be the MechFiber 270. The 270 is a six-paddle diet feeder designed for the medium sized operator. It can feed over 854mm feed barriers and can be adapted for rear feed out in narrower feed passages. Keenan noted that this diet feeder is suitable for feeding approximately 40-60 dairy cows per load or 80-120 finishing cattle. The single-axle feeder requires 70hp to power it. The machine is driven by two chains in total. It has six bearings mounted externally for easy access.

MechFiber 380

The largest machine on display will be the tandem-axle MechFiber 380. Keenan explained that this feeder is capable of feeding up to 150 dairy cows or 350+ fattening cattle for 24 hours with a single load. Having a horsepower requirement of 115hp, the two-chain drive in the 380 is submerged in a self-lubricating oil bath. Access to the oil bath drive line has been improved by the use of a sealed bath, with two full-depth fiberglass doors. Other models on show include the MechFiber 320 and 365. ?
