A meeting has been arranged between knackery representatives and the Department of Agriculture for Monday 16 September.
The Animal Collectors Association (ACA) is calling on the Government to provide funding to the industry, stating that the prices it has received for animal collection have remained static over the last decade.

On Friday, the ACA estimated that up to 3,000 fallen animals were waiting to be collected from farms.
“The Department has made contact with the Animal Collectors Association and have arranged a meeting,” chair of ACA Michael McKeever told the Irish Farmers Journal.
“We are more than willing to attend any meeting that will address our issues.
"In the absence of any meaningful commitment on our issues, knackery gates will remain closed.”
