There could be fewer mapping requirements once the UK leaves the EU. Currently, farmers receive regular requests to remap their farm despite often never moving a field boundary or march.
With the advances in technology there is an ability to increase accuracy of maps and potentially catch farmers out. Leaving the EU could allow a more sensible approach and focus remapping where land areas change significantly.
A Scottish Government spokesperson said: “We recognise the burden for farmers of complying with European Commission mapping requirements, which is why we fully support ongoing efforts to simplify the Common Agricultural Policy.”
