Local Enterprise Week is returning virtually this year from 7-11 March.

Catering for anyone with a business or starting a business, the event is organised by the 31 Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) across the country.

Each LEO will organise their own events and this year’s schedule also includes 12 spotlight events, which are free to attend.

There is a line-up of speakers and interesting topics, all intended to help you and your business thrive.

Spotlight events

With International Women’s Day on 8 March, LEOs will be hosting events around the theme #BreakTheBias all week.

How to use technology to the advantage of your business, through social media or business digitalisation, is a strong component of the spotlight events.

One of the spotlight events focuses on food consumer trends and will be of particular interest to farmers, start-up food producers and food operators.

Opportunity

Padraic McElwee, chair of the network of LEOs, sees the Local Enterprise Week as an opportunity for small businesses to explore areas where they may have little or no knowledge.

He says: “Local Enterprise Week is the perfect opportunity for small businesses to analyse their position and set a course for the future.

“Following two years of change, small businesses will hopefully have a sustained period of stability to plan and to grow. There are new areas of interest around green and digital that businesses may want to learn about.

“Similarly, we will have a new wave of entrepreneurs stemming from the pandemic that will have great ideas for a business or want to create a business that better suits a new life balance.

“Local Enterprise Week will have an event for all these people and a chance to link in with their LEO to see how they can be supported in the future.”
