John Deere unveiled what it is calling a completely new 6M Series tractor range at Agritechnica. The new series will replace the previous 6M, 6MC and 6RC series. The range includes four new four-cylinder models from 90 to 120hp which have a 2.4m wheelbase. This is a smaller-framed tractor than what was previously offered. It has a tidy low bonnet design, a slimmer steering wheel cowl and the new panoramic window in the cab roof. The short wheelbase means the new models have a tight turning circle of 4.35m. These tractors have a maximum permissible weight of 10.45t.
The four new four-cylinder models are powered by a 4.5-litre John Deere engine. Three different gearbox options are now available – four-step powershift PowrQuad, AutoQuad and CommandQuad Plus, which is a fully automatic gear and range shifting gearbox.
The new 6M tractors feature a newly designed cab. The firm is offering electric spool valves (up to four) as an option for the first time in the range. The direction of travel can be changed on both the electrohydraulic joystick and the mechanical joystick. Both mechanical cab suspension and the TLS (triple link suspension) front axle are also available as well as LED lighting.
