The Kverneland Group introduced a new sensor-based solution to monitor the real time dry matter (DM) value of grass when it is being cut. The DM detector is designed for disc mower conditioners and works by means of a sensor positioned above the conditioner rotor. This detects and measures the crop as it passes and provides the operator with real time data of the dry matter value as it is being processed by the disc mower.

The operator can see the real time value live on the in-cab screen and can use the information to make decisions, such as adjusting the conditioning intensity or making a call on whether to ted the grass or not. The DM sensor provides a heat map of each field harvested, giving an overview of the job.
