This year’s FTMTA show will mark the first time the Fendt Cargo T740 telehandler with its unique elevating cab will be seen on Irish soil. Joining the Cargo T740 on the Fendt stand will be the new 728 Vario Gen 7 tractor and a Tigo forage wagon, alongside a range of other tractors from its 200, 300 and 500 Vario ranges.

Fendt will present its current 724 Gen 6 tractor alongside the incoming 728 Gen 7 as a way to illustrate the progress the brand has made in both engine technology and efficiency.

Fendt first announced it had entered the telehandler market in 2019 to extend its product ranges. In doing so, the manufacturer teamed up Sennebogen, a fellow German manufacturer and specialist builder of port cranes and material handling machines.

Under the bonnet, the T740 is fitted with a four-cylinder 136hp Cummins engine. It features a hydrostatic CompactDrive 20km/h transmission.

The new Fendt 728 Vario will be on show in Ireland for the first time.

However, 30km/h and 40km/h options are available. The TopViewCab can be raised hydraulically to a height of 4.1m. The T740 offers a maximum lift height of 7.4m and a maximum lift capacity of 4t. In terms of hydraulic capacity, it is capable of producing 170l/min.

728 Gen 7

The new 728 Vario Gen 7 tractor offers a rated horsepower of 283hp with a 20hp dynamic boost taking it to 303hp. The 728 is fitted with a 7.5l AGCO Power engine, which Fendt claims has been developed for its 700 series Gen 7 tractors.

The drivetrain has been revised and further developed. It now features independent drive of the front and rear axles, intelligent all-wheel drive and elimination of drive range shifting.

The new VarioDrive system drives the front and rear axles, as needed, automatically changing between field and road operations. Rated engine speed is 1,700rpm, while the 728 can reach its top speed of 60km/h at 1,450rpm.
