Abbey Machinery is set to introduce three new additions to its product range at this year’s Ploughing, namely a nurse tank, the VF1900 diet feeder and its new bale shears.
Acting as a central supply point for LESS equipment in the field, Abbey says that the nurse tank complements the Abbey slurry range, by enabling efficient and continuous spreading.
It reduces downtime and allows operators to work in areas that are otherwise inaccessible to tankers or slurry sources.
With its lowered loading height, Abbey says that the new VF1900 diet feeder is designed to navigate narrow passageways. Standard features include twin augers with 22mm flighting, a flat-top ring, a wide-angle PTO shaft, and twin wheels.
Shiny shears
Also making its Ploughing debut this year will be the Abbey bale shears. With this, Abbey has opted for a floating clamp design to retain the plastic and net.
How does this work? Once a bale has been picked up, the floating clamp hinges on the same frame as the cutting blade, meaning both move parallel to one another.
The clamp is loaded using a hydraulic sequencing valve. When the shears are closed, oil is diverted via the sequencing valve, engaging the hooks to catch the film/net.
Once the frame has been fully opened, the hooks release and let go of the film/net. As standard, its fitted with five tines.
Diet feeders
In addition to these new products, visitors will see Abbey’s extended range of diet feeders – with the new VF1900 model making its debut along with a range of sizes to meet the needs of different farms.
Slurry tankers will also be to the fore, including a 5000 tri axle tanker, 4000 recessed tandem, 2050 premium recess and 2500 recessed premium plus tanks.
These will be joined by LESS applicators, including a 12m band spreader, 10.2m Agri Pro trailing shoe, 7.7m Agri Pro trailing shoe and its newest addition to the LESS range the Flexi-Shoe.
