Claas has come out trumps in the Tractor of the Year awards 2026, with its new Axion 9.450 Terra Trac.

Fendt, Valtra, New Holland, JCB and AgXeed have shared the spoils in their respective classes for the 2026 award, with the 2025 titles having been shared by Case IH, Fendt, Steyr, Antonio Carraro, Fendt and AgXeed.

The Tractor of the Year (TOTY) is an international award to select the best tractors in the European market.

The accolade has been on the go since 1998 and was presented at Agritechnica in Germany this week. Each year, six tractors win across the six categories.

TOTY high power: Claas Axion 9.450 Terra Trac

First seen at the show in Germany this week, the new Axion range has five models, with the 9.450 being the largest, offering 448hp from the FPT Cursor 9 engine.

Torque levels on the flagship machine peak at 1,850Nm, available at just 1,400rpm. It’s equipped with a stepless ZF transmission.

Claas has integrated torque sensors, which the firm says will improve the power management throughout the machine.

Service intervals have been increased by 50%, which the manufacturer says reduces costs by 18%.

Both the 9.360 and the 9.450 are available with the Terra Trac rear track system, which has been revamped and now reduces the power drag of the tracks by 8hp.

TOTY mid power: Fendt 516 Vario

Fendt’s new Gen4 series features four models (513, 514, 515 and 516), with a power range from 134 to 164hp.

Similar to the larger series, the 500 series gains Fendt’s Dynamic Performance (DP) added-power concept, which releases an additional 10hp when required. The 5l, four-cylinder AGCO Power Core 50 engine now combines with the Fendt iD low speed concept, which allows the tractor to run at 1,600rpm at 50km/h.

The single-stage VarioDrive TA120 drive features independent four-wheel drive. VarioDrive drives the front and rear axles independently of each other. The 500 Vario is equipped with Fendt ONE, meaning it features all the smart options of the Fendt larger tractors.

TOTY utility: Valtra G125 CVT Active

The Valtra G125 sources power from a four-cylinder AGCO Power engine, with a rated power of 120hp, increasing to 130hp with boost. This is now married up to AGCO’S stepless ML75 transmission.

The hydraulics package includes a closed-centre, load-sensing pump producing 110l/min, with up to eight mechanical or electronic valves across the front and rear of the machine.

Mechanical cab suspension and hydraulic front axle suspension are available, and the G Series can be specified with the full Valtra Smart Farming suite.

TOTY specialised: New Holland T4.120 F Auto Command

The new T4.120 F Auto Command range has been designed for fruit growers and vineyards.

The four-model range offers 86hp to 120hp. It’s powered by a four-cylinder FPT engine, which offers 518Nm of torque at 1,300rpm. In transport mode, the tractor achieves 40km/h at 1,500rpm and the maximum speed at 1,780rpm.

It’s fitted with hydraulic front axle suspension, while the standard front axle can be swapped out for a SuperSteer variant that reduces the turning circle from 3.9m to 3.3m.

TOTY sustainable: JCB Fastrac 6300

Spanning 284hp to 335hp, the new JCB Fastrac 6000 fills what was a void in JCB’s tractor portfolio.

Spanning 284hp to 335hp, the new JCB Fastrac 6000 fills what was a void in JCB’s tractor portfolio. The new two-model range is powered by an FPT 6.7l engine and a ZF CVT transmission, offering a maximum speed of 66km/h.

Differing from the existing 8000 series, the 6000 features equal sized 38in wheels and four-wheel steering.

Dual receiver satellite guidance is integrated to independently control the front and rear axles, while an integrated Central tyre Inflation System (CTIS) is also available.

Hydraulic capacity was increased to 205l/min, which can be optioned for a twin pump setup, producing 410l/min. The cab is familiar, but beneath the surface its electrical architecture is all new.

TOTY bot: AgXeed 2.055W3

The AgXeed has secured the TOTY bot award for the second year in a row, with the 2.055 W3. This model is designed for use in orchards and vineyards. It’s powered by a 75hp Deutz TCD four-cylinder diesel and HVO-compatible engine offering up to 300Nm of torque at 1,600rpm.

It features a three-wheel design which spreads the weight of the machine and the implement over individual tracks. An electronic transmission system is powered through a generator.

It comes with a geofence system and remote supervisory software. Other safety features include a camera system, Lidar and a front-mounted, cushioned bumper to monitor for obstacles.
