Macra na Feirme rural youth committee is delighted to announce the second wellness weekend will take place from Friday 9 June to Sunday 11 June 2018 at the Ballyhoura hostel, Kilfinane, Limerick. Known as Ireland’s most luxurious hostel, it is nestled in the Ballyhoura Mountains and is designed for those seeking comfort, luxury and is an ideal setting for the wellness weekend.

This is a unique event for Macra and the organisation hopes that it inspires members to be more aware of their mental health. The rural youth committee is taking a different approach to promoting positive mental health and therefore has organised this event to encourage members to get involved in activities that benefit their mental health directly. We hope that members leave on Sunday feeling refreshed having experience something new, that they have never tried before.

The list of activities varies and include a digital detox, a games night, clay pigeon shooting, yoga, mindfulness and meditation, a guided walk in the Ballyhoura mountains and a talk about life coaching. This is a non-alcohol weekend so members really get the benefit from all activities.

The weekend price is all-inclusive so members will not need to pay for anything extra when they arrive. The meals are prepared in the hostel by the owners Seamus and Teresa. You are fed from when you arrive on Friday evening until you leave on Sunday.

Speaking after attending last year, one member said: ‘‘The hostel was fantastic. Our every need was looked after. It was an absolutely brilliant weekend, I was a fish out of water but it was a fantastic experience from the memories of ‘‘30 secs’’ to the muddy hill walk. Thank you so much for an enjoyable weekend. I will definitely return.”

Places are limited to 25 people so early booking is recommended and only male or female dorms are available. The cost of the weekend is €210 per person. The closing date is Friday 4 May 2018. Please contact the national office on 01-426 8900 for booking details.
