The Macra na Feirme young farmer training meetings taking place across the country in March and April will include an update on schemes, climate change and Origin Green.

The meetings will take place on the following dates:

  • The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown – 31 March.
  • The Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, Co Laois – 14 April.
  • The Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon – 19 April.
  • All of the above meetings will start at 7.30pm.

    Farm safety

    Training will include the completion of risk assessment, which is necessary for TAMS applications, etc.

    Booking is through Eventbrite and will cost €20 for Macra members. The meetings will start at 7pm.

  • Teagasc, Moorepark – 7 April.
  • Teagasc, Portlaoise – 20 April.
  • Ballyhaise Agricultural College, Cavan – 27 April.
  • Welding courses

    Available for Arc, MIG and TIG welding at different levels.

    The first course is planned to start on 1 March for nine weeks. It will take place every Tuesday at 6.30pm at METAC, Mountrath, Co Laois.

    Booking is through Eventbrite. The costs for Macra members are: €200 (Arc) and €270 (MIG/TIG).

    Upcoming training

    There will be training courses in DIY AI, welding, tractor driving and safety, occupational first aid, etc.

    Further dates will be held, subject to demand, over the coming months in different venues.
