Back in 2009, Agri-Spread’s first product in its agricultural line was a vertical beater rear discharge dung spreader. At the LAMMA show in the UK last January, the firm unveiled a new series of vertical beater rear discharge spreaders, known as the plus range. Now, to complement this offering, the company is introducing the Pro-Plus range of spreaders.

With an unladen weight of 7,950kg, the unit has a spreading width of up to 18m.

The machines are designed to spread a range of manure types, with models starting at 14t and going up to 18t. There are three spreader models – 14000, 16000 and 18000. The new machines slot in above the Pro range, which is available in six model sizes from 6t to 12t.

The new, larger range are designed to spread a range of manure types, with models starting at 14t and ranging up to 18t.

Features

The spreader series has a monocoque design, meaning the chassis is integrated into the body. Driven off Walterscheid PTO shafts, it is operated at a PTO speed of 1,000rpm. The material is fed to the beaters by a single-piece floor slat. Agri-Spread said it is using 20mm pre-stretched heavy-duty (Grade 80) marine chains on the hydraulically driven floor.

The paddles on the vertical beaters and the wearing tips now come as standard with Boron.

The spreader is guarded by three different protection systems. The floor gearbox is protected by a preset crossflow relief valve on the motor that drives the floor. By cutting out when hitting a certain pressure, it protects both the beaters and the floor drive mechanism. The floor can also be reversed if a blockage occurs. The wide-angle PTO shaft is protected by an M10, 8.8-rated shear bolt. A cam clutch system protects the beater gearbox.

The spreader is equipped with weigh cells which work in conjunction with Isobus to work as an auto rate controller.

The Pro-Plus range is fitted with a wider stepped beater with a larger diameter auger and spinner paddles for a wider spread. The paddles on the vertical beaters and the wearing tips now come with boron as standard. The beaters are mechanically driven by a PTO at 1,000rpm through a one-piece gearbox. The beaters are now balanced in-house by Agri-Spread.

Auto rate controller

The machine featured is a top of the range offering. It’s equipped with weight cells which work with Isobus as an auto rate controller. This means the floor speed will be automatically adjusted to achieve the set application rate. The machine can be specified with a range of Isobus terminals. With an unladen weight of 7,950kg, it has a spreading width of up to 18m.

It also comes with a slurry door indicator. This allows the operator to see what height the rear door is opened to from the cab. The spreaders are shot-blasted, painted with two-pack paint before being oven baked. At present, the range is only available in a single-axle version, but Agri-Spread has confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that a tandem-axle offering is in development.

The spreaders running gear is protected by three different systems; a crossflow relief valve, a shearbolt and a cam clutch.

As standard, the range come with a sprung drawbar, air brakes and are shod on 650/65 R42 Alliance tyres. Agri-Spread managing director David Murphy said most machines they sell on the Irish market are now equipped with spoon hitches, whereas in the UK, most continue to use the traditional towing eye.

Another nice feature fitted as standard is the auto fold cover on the lights. Once the slurry door is opened, this function automatically folds a cover down over lights, protecting them from contact with any foreign objects and keeping them clean for safe transport on the road.

Driven off Waterschield PTO shafts, the spreader is operated at a PTO speed of 1000RPM.

The machine featured is the first of the new range built and is destined for a large contractor in the UK Midlands. Agri-Spread said the new range will be widely available for delivery from early 2021. Prices will start at €38,000 plus VAT.
