The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) has again made clear its opposition to DAERA plans to made carbon audits a condition for future farm support payments.

“Our members do not support compulsory carbon auditing being either imposed on farm businesses or becoming a condition of support,” confirmed UFU president John McLenaghan.

“Farmers are already operating under significant pressures and regulations, and there is concern around the purpose, cost and future use of information,” he added.
