The most recent genetic evaluations from the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) were released on 26 May 2026. The update saw a major reshuffle in the replacement active bull list, with the Angus breed going from having 16 AI sires in the top 50 in the previous evaluation to having 35 in the current rankings.
Loosing out were Limousin, Charolais, Simmental, Shorthorn, Salers and Hereford sires, who between them held 28 positions in the previous run. In the current rankings, these breeds now make up just seven of the top 50 bulls on the replacement active bull list.
Aubrac AI sires account for eight of the top 50, up two from the previous evaluations.
Angus also hold nine of the top 10 positions along with one Aubrac. The number one position is still held by the Angus bull, Kealkil Prime Lad.
Terminal
On the Terminal active bull list, the changes were not so severe, with Charolais, Limousin and Belgian Blue sires still dominating the top 50 positions. However, the number of Belgian Blues in the top 50 increased from nine to 14, with the number of Charolais dropping from 23 to 20.

The number one position on the terminal list is still held by the Limousin bull, Drumline S1185.
The next evaluation publication date is set for the 21 July 2026
