A few tillage farmers have been onto me complaining about the Tirlán rebate on animal feed. As they await the harvest price for their grain they found it hard to believe that the co-op was subsidising dairy ration by €30/t and Irish rolled cereals by €10/t when tillage farmers will struggle to cover the cost of production and have not received direct supports from the co-op.

A big gripe was the €3/t subsidy on straights. This means the palm kernel imported from half way across the world being fed at the minute by Tirlán milk suppliers can now be subsidised. Tillage farmers are not happy.
