The Irish Farmers Journal's special Mercosur podcast has won silver at the All-Ireland Podcast Awards in the current affairs and politics category.

The awards ceremony took place in the Woodlands Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick, on Thursday night.

In the podcast, the Irish Farmers Journal team examined what the proposed EU-Mercosur trade deal could mean for Irish farmers in terms of beef price, environmental standards and competitiveness.

The team also spoke to industry stakeholders to answer the question: is Mercosur a done deal or can it be stopped?

The judging emphasis for the category focused on insightful analysis, accuracy of information and the ability to simplify complex topics.

The podcast was hosted by Irish Farmers Journal deputy editor Caitríona Morrissey and featured deputy editor and beef editor Adam Woods, markets specialist Phelim O’Neill, political correspondent Pat O’Toole and news correspondent Declan O’Brien.
