The deadline for completing investments in the On-Farm TB Biosecurity Scheme is 31 August 2026.
Under the scheme, grant aid will be paid at 40% of expenditure on eligible materials including water and feed troughs and fencing to restrict access from bovines to badger setts.
The maximum investment in the scheme is €2,000 excluding VAT, while the minimum investment is €500, ie a maximum grant of €800 and a minimum grant aid of €200 per approved application.
The Department of Agriculture previously told the Irish Farmers Journal that there are 43 approved co-operatives and agri-retail merchants under the scheme from which farmers can purchase items.
A list can be found at www.bovinetb.ie, along with the terms and conditions of the scheme.
It added that farmers may not change the co-op or agri-retail merchant that they selected at the time of application.
Application for payment
Farmers must present their approval letter at their selected premises to purchase materials. This form must be signed by both parties and certified by the co-op or agri merchant at the time of purchase.
The sales declaration form is to be retained by the participating co-op or agri merchant as the basis for its claim for payment to the Department under the scheme.
The completed sales declaration and electronic submission document must be made available to the Department as part of the verification checks to be carried out.
The approved participating co-op or agri merchant must collate all the farmer declaration details and submit the relevant information in one single electronic submission.
