Pig prices are unchanged this week with producers generally being paid in the range of 164c/kg to 168c/kg, with up to 170c/kg being paid in a small number of favourable deals.
The temporary suspension of supply to the Chinese market by Rosderra’s Roscrea plant had no significant impact on producers this week. The plant continues to slaughter for other markets and for supply to secondary processors that process further for the home market.
Weekly kill

The weekly kill is running at up to 68,000 pigs per week with the result that there is no longer any significant backlog of fit pigs ready for slaughter.
The two Rosderra plants are understood to have slaughtered over 38,000 pigs
in the week to Saturday 20 June, which is near full capacity.
The Irish Farmers Journal
understands there may be some readjustment of arrangements between the two Rosderra plants for the coming few weeks, with some slaughtering of sows switching from Edenderry to Roscrea.
