Weather warnings have been issued for much of the country ahead of storm Amy, which is expected to cross the country on Thursday 2 October.

An orange warning for rain has been issued for Co Kerry. It will be in place from 6am on Thursday until 8pm.

Met Éireann is warning of potential flooding and very difficult travelling conditions in the county.

Meanwhile, a status yellow warning for rain will run during the same time period for all of Munster and Connacht, as well as Cavan, Donegal and Longford.

Met Éireann said there will be widespread rain that will be heavy at times, potentially causing localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
