Farmers and other stakeholders will have a chance to give their opinion on the national strategy to tackle climate change in agriculture this summer.

Senior inspector at the Department of Agriculture Bill Callanan told the EPA's climate change conference this Wednesday that his Department would open a public consultation on the strategy to 2030.

"We're calling it climate wise at the moment," he said, in reference to the parallel Food Wise 2025 strategy to grow agricultural production and exports.

The public consultation will centre on ways to implement the farming section of the all-Government climate plan, which Minister for Climate Action Richard Bruton said would be published in a month's time.

The Department of Agriculture's public consultation will follow shortly after that, Callanan said.
