Any hope of lamb prices following a similar sharp upward trajectory as in December 2024 are fading fast. Prices increased by 50c/kg to 70c/kg over a short space of time at the start December 2024 with factories taking steps to attract higher numbers forward. There is no such appetite for increased numbers at present with throughput static at over 38,000 head.

Base quotes are unchanged this week €7.70/kg to €7.80/kg for quality assured lambs with top prices rising to €8/kg.

Bluetongue-related disruption say prices in Northern Ireland fall by 30p/kg to 40p/kg but they have rebounded by 10p/kg. See page 60 for more.
