Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for widespread heavy rain and possible flooding. This is in place for counties Galway, Mayo and Kerry for late Thursday night, 19 August, into the early hours of Friday 20 August.

Hazardous driving conditions

Thundery outbreaks of rain will occur in the early hours of Friday morning, bringing hazardous driving conditions and the ongoing risk of spot flooding.

Met Éireann said Friday would bring further heavy showers and possible thunderstorms.

However, they said the thunderstorms should pass by late afternoon.

The status yellow warning is in place for Galway, Mayo and Kerry.
