Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed paved the way for September's first meeting of the TB 2030 Stakeholder Forum by appointing Michael Cronin as its chair this Friday.

The forum will include representatives from the Department of Agriculture, farmers, vets, processors and academics.

The Department will publish consultation papers ahead of the talks and expects the forum to draw up proposals that can help achieve TB eradication by 2030. The minister will then condier these proposals in finalising the national strategy against the disease.

Former Newmarket Co-op chief executive Cronin chaired the Irish Dairy Board from 2002 to 2010. He was also a board member of Bord Bia, chair of its quality assurance board and partner of the consultancy firm Agri-Food Business Partners.
