A total of 116 varieties of fruit and vegetables sold at Tesco are due to have their best before dates removed, the supermarket announced earlier this week.
The decision follows newly commission research which found 69% of customers believed that scrapping best before dates was a good idea, while 53% of consumers noted that removing best before dates will make a difference and cut back on food waste.
Tesco had already removed best before dates from around 70 fruits and vegetables earlier this year. The guidance now due to be removed from the additional 116 products will include apples, cabbages and asparagus.
