A tightening in sheep supplies is underpinning a recovery in prices. Last week’s kill reduced by 3,958 head to 49,678, with plants responding and raising prices in an attempt to entice higher numbers forward. Kepak Athleague has set the tone with a 10c/kg increase in its base quote, to €4.95/kg, while other plants have raised quotes by 10c/kg. General prices paid range from €5.00/kg to €5.10/kg, with top prices rising to €5.15/kg.
