Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed travels to Japan and South Korea next week as part of a Bord Bia trade mission, together with over 20 companies representing the Irish food and drink sector.
Both countries are huge importers of food, with Japan relying on imports for 60% of its annual food supply. Japan and South Korea combined imported €100m worth of Irish food and drink in 2016.
Bord Bia has identified the markets as having ‘high potential’, and is keen to secure an increased Irish stake in the two countries.
