Some 2,950 young bulls were loaded on a boat at the weekend at Greenore Port for delivery to Turkey. The consignment was put together by export company Viastar. The cattle will go for further feeding on Turkish farms.
Another boat will arrive at Belview Port, Waterford next Tuesday for loading with cattle for Libya. These cattle will also go for finishing on Libyan farms. This export contract is being filled by Purcell Brothers.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands than another southern-based exporter will load a ship with weanlings destined for Turkey before the end of the year.
