US milk production for February stood at 7.5bn litres, which is a 1.8% increase on the same month last year. US milk production for January was also up 1.8% meaning milk collections from US dairy farms for the first two months of 2018 stands at 15.5bn litres.
The steady growth in US milk production over recent months is being driven by a resurgence in milk deliveries in California, the largest dairy producing state in the US. For February, milk collections from Californian dairy farmers was up 3.5% to just over 1.4bn litres.
There was also strong growth in milk collections in Idaho, another large US dairy state. Idaho milk production increased almost 5% in February to reach close to 500m litres. In Wisconsin, February milk production was flat at 1bn litres.
