With winter feeding well under way, the Irish Farmers Journal this week carried out a price survey on beef cattle rations across the country.

Small bag (25kg) prices for weanling feed (16%-18% crude protein) and beef finishing concentrate (12-14%) were surveyed.

For weanling feed, the price ranged from €6.25 (equivalent €250/t ) up to €8 (€320/t). Prices quoted were: Cavan: €7.30 (€292/t), Derry €7.99 (€320/t), Meath €6.25 (€250/t), Carlow €7.50 (€300/t), Cork €8 (€320/t), Limerick €6.25 (€250/t) and Sligo €7.40 (€296/t).

For finishing rations, price ranged from €6 to €8.50. Prices quoted were: Cavan: €6.90 (€276/t), Derry €8.50 (€340/t), Meath €6 (€240/t), Carlow €7.50 (€300/t), Cork €7.70 (€308/t), Limerick €6.20 (€248/t) and Sligo €7.50 (€300/t).
