It has been another successful show for the Balthayock team with Major David Walter's Balthayock Nessie taking the overall Charolais championship in the Charolais ring. Judge Charlie Boden from the famous Sportmans herd in Stockport had the tough task of selecting his prize winners at this morning's judging session. Commenting on the quality of the animals present he said: " I was especially impressed with the quality of the females put forward for judging today, power, size and muscle, all attributes which Charolais cattle should possess in abundance."

The April 2017-born heifer stole the judge's eye and claimed overall female champion and then went on to win the overall championship. Sired by the famous Dingle Hofmeister and out of the homebred Balthayock Jessie, she comes from a strong line of Balthayock-bred cattle.

Irish attendees were smiling during the first class in the Charolais section with the Irish-bred Kilbline 1 Instigator-sired heifer, Inverlochy Odette, taking home the red rosette. The sire of the heifer was purchased in 2015 by Raymond Irvine and Son and has went on to bred very well for the Scottish duo.
