Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for the west and south of the country from 7pm this Monday until 7am on Tuesday.

Heavy rains will lead to accumulations of 25mm to 40mm in Connacht and counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.

Flooding is possible and rain may be heavier in mountainous areas.

Wind warning

This is is in addition to two yellow warnings for south to southeast winds, with mean speeds of 50km/h to 65km/h and gusts between 90km/h and 100km/h.

The first wind warning is in place from Monday afternoon until 4am on Tuesday for Munster, Connacht and Donegal.

It will extend to the rest of the country from 7pm on Monday and remain in place in Leinster and counties Cavan and Monaghan until 9am on Tuesday.

In Northern Ireland, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wet and windy weather from 3am to 9am on Tuesday, again with possible flooding.
