Three transition year students are surveying farmer's opinions on climate change to enter a statistics competition.

Rebecca Harty, Jessica Costelloe and Siobhan Condon from John the Baptist Community School in Hospital, Co Limerick are competing for the John Hooper Medal for Statistics to be awarded by the Central Statistics Office.

"I'm a farmer myself," Rebecca told the Irish Farmers Journal. "I was wondering how climate change affects farming, especially after the fodder crisis."

The students are inviting all farmers to answer 10 questions about their experience and views on climate change. Click here to take the survey.

"We're going to analyse the results and draw conclusions on farmers'opinions," Rebecca said.

They will present their work in a poster format to be judged by the national organising committee in March.

The students are also planning to share their findings with the IFA and Kerry Group, their local milk processor.
