Over 800 farmers are at risk of being kicked out of GLAS because they have not submitted a nutrient management plan (NMP), the Department of Agriculture has warned.

"All GLAS 3 participants must submit an NMP by 31 December 2018. Failure to submit a plan by this date will result in rejection from GLAS and claw-back of all GLAS payments made to date," according to a Department statement.

Farmers in GLAS 3 who have not submitted an NMP have seen their payments held since 31 March. The Department urged them and their advisors to submit the document through the online Nutrient Management Planning System operated by Teagasc as soon as possible. The service can be contacted by email at NMPHelpdesk@teagasc.ie or by phone on 0761 111339.

Training course

In addition, almost 200 farmers who entered phases 1 and 2 of GLAS have not yet completed the required one-day training course, the Department reported.

"These participants are also reminded that failure to complete a training course by 31 December 2018 will result in rejection from GLAS and claw-back of all GLAS payments made to date," the statement added.

The Department's GLAS division can be contacted by email at glasnmp@agriculture.gov.ie or by phone on 0761 064451.
