The cost of conacre rose by 11% last year to an average of €1,329/farm.

The cost of conacre drove up on-farm costs in addition to fuel, fertiliser and feed, according to the Teagasc National Farm Survey.

Overall, overhead costs rose by 13% in 2018.

An Irish Farmers Journal survey showed that the average 11-month rent cost €186/ac.

Tillage was the highest at €290/ac, dairy was at €211/ac and beef was at €155/ac.

Auctioneers reported a scarcity of land for leasing last year, with high farmer demand for land.
