On Monday this week, the Department of Agriculture tweeted that farmers should check their agfood.ie accounts to see if they are one of the 768 farmers who have recently been paid under GLAS I and GLAS II.
#GLAS 1 & 2 payments update € 2.79m now issued to 768 farmers, check your agfood.ie account for full details
Last week, as reported in the Irish Farmers Journal, the Department promised to make a payment run to around 750 farmers. However, there are still approximately 8,000 farmers due a payment. The Department claims further payment runs will issue on an ongoing basis as cases are cleared.
Meanwhile, a total of approximately 2,500 farmers participating in AEOS are still awaiting payments due last October.
IFA rural development chair Joe Brady urged Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed to immediately pursue with the European Commission the proposal that all farmers awaiting GLAS payments are now paid.
