A 298ac tillage and suckler farm hosting the former residence of the Duke of Leinster outside Castledermot, Co Kildare sold at auction for a total of €4.87m last week, agents Callum Bain of Colliers International and John Dawson of REA Dawson have announced.
The property was divided into four lots:
Lot 1, the residence and farmyard on approximately 55.5 ha (137 acres) of tillage and pasture land, sold for €2.05m.
Lot 2, approximately 25.3 ha (62.5 acres) of tillage land with derelict residence, sold for €1.1m (€17,600/ac).
Lot 3, approximately 10.7 ha (26.4 acre) subdivided by the M9 motorway, sold for €420,000 (€15,900/ac).
Lot 4, approximately 29.3 ha (72.4 acres) of tillage land, sold for €1.3m (€18,000/ac).
The farmyard at Prumplestown House.

The sale initially progressed with bids for each lot up to a holding point. Then auctioneers put the entire property up for sale in one lot, and received bids up to €4.45m.
After consulting with the vendors, the descendants of the Wright Family, they decided to go back for more bids for each lot.
Lot 3, already bid to €1.1m in the first round, was the most hotly contested at this point, with 10 further bids coming in to conclude the sale.
Auctioneers said the auction room was filled to capacity, with great interest in the sale of the property which had remained in the same family since the mid-1800s.
