I see the Department of Agriculture is on the hunt for someone to look after the satellite inspections of farms for the coming year.

The contract for remotely sensing 7,000-odd farms under the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) with the EU’s eye in the sky is up for grabs.

It’s expected to cost somewhere in the region of €8.2m to keep an eye on us farmers.

If I had the computer know-how and the free-time I’d certainly stick an application in. Sadly, my hands are full, farming away.
