More than 9,300 farmers submitted an amendment to their Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) application before the 31 May amendment deadline, figures from the Department of Agriculture show.

Just over 300 amended their applications before the 9 June deadline. Farmers could make an amendment to their application before 31 May without a penalty being applied. After this date, until 9 June, farmers could make an amendment but be subject to a 1% penalty payment on the parcel(s) concerned for each working day in this period that the amendment was late.
