This was after it emerged that some shoppers were bulk buying baby powder and selling it on at a huge margin in China.
Many shop shelves were left empty, forcing local consumers to drive from shop to shop looking for milk formula for their infant. The supermarkets also moved the infant formula to behind the counter, alongside alcohol and cigarettes.
Now, shop assistants are being threatened when they tell people they can’t buy more than two tins of powder.
