AXA now holds a 5% share of the farm insurance market, an Irish Farmers Journal Red C poll of 1,000 farmers has found.

The company entered the farm insurance market less than three months ago. As part of an Irish FarmersJournal/ RED C poll, Farmers were asked which insurance provider their farm insurance is with and the results found that 71% of farmers are insured with FBD, 11% are with Zurich, 6% are with Aviva and 5% are with AXA.

Commenting on the figures, Christy Doherty, head of farm at AXA, told the Irish Farmers Journal: “Fifty farmers per day are now making the switch to AXA and we are especially pleased with the 5% market share after only a few months on the market. AXA are offering farmers new and innovative insurance products together with a dedicated agri specialist team based in Athlone. There has been a lack of competition in the market and we’re here to change that and give farmers better value.”
