The LAMMA machinery show which started on Wednesday in Peterborough, England and was due to conclude today remained closed on its second morning.
Thanks for your patience. We are currently assessing the damage on site which is quite severe in places. The site is not safe to enter and is unlikely to be opened in the next few hours. We are currently not taking any additional cars onto site.
“High winds overnight caused serious damage to stands and structures across the East of England Showground forced the event to be closed early,” organisers said. Hundreds of visitors were being held in car parks through the morning.
Organisers are planning to allow exhibitors to assess damage on their stands and retrieve their property, but are not allowing vehicles onto the site at this point. “Some of the structures may be unsafe,” they have warned.
