The Beef Plan Movement is to now hold elections in mid-January, not this side of Christmas, co-chair of the group Hugh Doyle has said.

He told the Irish Farmers Journal that the rules and governance of the Beef Plan Movement were signed off at 2am at a meeting on Thursday night in Portlaoise.

The national council of Beef Plan and county chairs will be informed of the rules and governance and then an election is to take place.

It “has to happen,” he said, adding that he was hopeful of elections taking place in mid-January.

“It’s 100% happening, we’ll have an AGM 21 days late.

“We are the voice of the grassroots and need to remember that. The rules and governance will reflect that and will recognise all the talent in all the counties going forward,” Doyle said.

Christmas election

In mid-November, Doyle told this publication that the Beef Plan Movement was to hold elections for all positions within the group in the coming weeks, with the aim of elections this side of Christmas.

Elections are to take place for the co-chair positions of the group, the role of treasurer, regional chair roles and county chair positions.
