Boortmalt has offered a €190/t at 20% moisture for malting barley.

The offer comes in advance of Monday night’s crunch growers' meeting, where the IFA negotiating committee will highlight the progress - if any - made between it and Boortmalt.

Under the minimum

The price falls well under the minimum €200/t that farmers were demanding at last week’s first growers' meeting.

Last autumn, Boortmalt offered €230/t fixed price on up to 20% of a grower's contracted tonnage.

It seems growers can sell all their remaining tonnage through this offer.

The price closely mirrors the FOB Creil price, which has been proposed as the new benchmark for the Boortmalt grain price.

A text to Boortmalt suppliers states that the €190/t offer is available on a first-come first-served basis.
