Sheep producers with lambs to sell are trading into a stronger market with factory quotes rising an average of 10c/kg over the Christmas break. Kildare Chilling, Kepak Athleague and Ballon Meats are quoting a similar base of €4.90/kg and only separated by their quality assurance bonuses while the two Irish Country Meats plants are quoting a base of €4.85/kg. Producers with higher numbers are securing €5.05/kg to €5.15/kg while there are some reports of €5.20/kg paid. There is also more scope to negotiate on weight with some deals moving to 23kg carcase weight.
