The main demand continues to be for top-quality calved heifers showing good milk potential. The highest prices continue to be paid for well-bred cows with good EBI, fat and protein figures.

At the upper end of the market, these heifers are making from €1,400 to €1,700 in sales. Average-quality heifers on the point of calving are selling mainly from €1,300 to €1,450, with some light heifers or those that have little figures making from €1,100 upwards.

There are a number of farm-to-farm movements happening at the moment, with larger groups of heifers and crossbred heifers making from €1,200 to €1,400.
