Egyptian officials visited a number of beef factories in Ireland and met with Department of Agriculture personnel within the past two weeks.

A spokesperson for the Department said its officials met a visiting Egyptian delegation last week at the invitation of the Egyptian Ambassador to discuss future bilateral trade opportunities.

“However, the visit to factories was in connection with Halal accreditation and certification and therefore not a matter for the Department,” the spokesperson said.
